Ingredients

  • 200 g marzipan (e.g. Lemke Simply Pure)
  • 2 red apples
  • 275 g puff pastry
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method

Roll out the marzipan flat between two sheets of baking paper, then cut it into narrow strips.

Roll out the puff pastry and cut it lengthwise into strips.

Core and halve the apples, then cut or slice them into thin slices.

Arrange the apple slices slightly overlapping along the first strip of puff pastry. Place a strip of marzipan on top and fold the lower edge of the pastry upwards.

Roll the strip up to the middle to form a rose. Then roll up the second half of the strip.

Repeat these steps with the remaining pastry.

Place the roses in a baking tin lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 220°C top/bottom heat for about 30 minutes.

After 15 minutes, turn off the top heat and place a sheet of baking paper over the roses to prevent them from becoming too dark.

Dust with powdered sugar while still warm.

Tipp:

Baked individually in small muffin cases, they are just as decorative and easy to serve.
